Converse Shoes

Converse Shoes have always been in a league of their own. The funny part is – I never knew about them till about recently, when a friend pointed out that they are very comfortable.

I hunted around for some information on where I could get a pair for myself in Bangalore, and ended up reading the Wiki Page on Converse Shoes, in which there was a mention that Nike had taken over converse recently. I right away called up the Nike Flagship store (at Khanija Bhavan) and asked the person who answered if they sold Converse. He was pretty confused, and asked “Converse? No sir, we don’t.” Apparently, he wasn’t aware that Converse had been taken over, but was very helpful, and mentioned that I could pick it up at Planet Sports in Garuda Mall.

I picked up a pair of Chuck Taylor All-Stars. For a brand as popular as Converse, I was surprised at the price tag. It was considerably lower than most other “International” brands I’ve known / bought. I’m sure I couldn’t get a pair of shoes for the same amount from any other vendor. :-)

Oh, and by the way, my friend wasn’t wrong about the shoes. Well, I almost missed out the entire point of this article. They’re the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn. :-)

Later, I also found out that the sports accessory dealer (Sorry, can’t recollect the name) at the Ground Floor of Sigma Mall also sells Converse Shoes.

PS: Thanks to P.A.Monterio’s article, which was the inspiration for this post. :-)
